Graduation Ceremonies, End of the Academic Year 2011/12

At present, graduation ceremonies at TBU take place in the TBU Assembly Hall. More than 3,000 Bachelor’s and Master’s graduates have completed their studies at six faculties of TBU.

 

Exhibition NEWINTAGE to Be Held in Prague

Refectory in the U4 Building to Be Closed on 9 July

Please note that the Refectory in the U4 building will be closed on 9 July 2012 due to a power cut. Meals will be available in the Refectory in the U5 building, in the Cafeteria (U2) and in the Restaurant (U13).

 

U4 Staff Refectory to Be Closed

Please note that the Staff Refectory in the U4 building will be closed from 1 July to 17 August 2012.

 

HRR Catering Facilities to Be Closed during Summer Holidays

Prof. Barteček Was Elected the Candidate to Be Appointed the Dean of FLCM

On Thursday, 28 June 2012 the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Logistics and Crisis Management elected Prof. PhDr. Ivo Barteček, CSc. as the candidate to be appointed the new Dean of the Faculty.

The graduation ceremonies (Master’s programmes) at TBU will take place on the following dates: FT - 10 July (8:30, 10:30, 13:00, 15:00), Assembly Hall, Mostní Street, Zlín FaME – 29 and 30 June, Assembly Hall, Mostní Street, Zlín FMC – 17 July (10:00, 11:30, 13:00), Assembly Hall, Mostní Street, Zlín FAI – 4 July (10:00, 11:30, 13:00, 14:30), Assembly Hall, Mostní Street, Zlín FHS – 8 July (10:00, 12:30), Assembly Hall, Mostní Street, Zlín The graduation ceremonies at FLCM took place in Uherské Hradiště on 25 June and in Prostějov on 27 June 2012.

 

Interchange/Terminal

We would like to invite you to attend the exhibition entitled ‘Interchange/Terminal’ and featuring Bachelor’s and Master’s projects by students in Visual Arts at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications. Opening ceremonies of the exhibitions will take place in Zlín on Thursday, 21 June 2012.

 

Polymer Processing and Functionalization

Students and teachers from four universities in France (Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Clermont-Ferrand), Italy (Universit`a degli Studi di Salerno), Slovakia (Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava) and the Czech Republic (TBU) will have an opportunity to study polymers intensively during two weeks in summer. A two-week summer school entitled Polymer Processing and Functionalization will take place at the TBU Faculty of Technology.

 

Lecture on International Collaboration

Become a Scientist! - Workshop a Success

The workshop entitled ‘ Become a Scientist! ’ attracted strong interest from children – visitors to the 52 nd edition of the Zlín Film Festival. The event was held in the atrium in the University Centre on Thursday, 31 May 2012. The children had an opportunity to carry out entertaining experiments under the supervision of PhD students from the Faculty of Technology and from the Faculty of Applied Informatics.

 

Children’;s TV Studio

Young visitors to the Zlín Film Festival showed great interest in the Children’s TV Studio workshop organized by the Faculty of Multimedia Communications on Friday, 1 June 2012.

 

Rainbow Marble

Leading Czech experts on TV and film marketing will give lectures at the Zlín Film Festival on 30 and 31 May 2012, during the tenth edition of the Rainbow Marble project. The main speaker, who worked as a journalist for international magazines (Variety, Hollywood Reporter, Business Daily, Forbes,…) and authored the book Marketing to Moviegoers , is Mr. Robert Marich , who will come from New York in order to give his lecture. His lecture will be simultaneously interpreted.

 

TBU to Co-organize Film Festival Events

Just like in previous years, Tomas Bata University in Zlín is one of the co-organizers of the Zlín Film Festival . The exhibition entitled “History of Filmmaking in Zlín” will be on display in the University Centre building. On the ground floor the “Internet Café” will be available to all visitors to the festival. The Rainbow Marble workshop and the festival closing party will take place in the same building.

 

U13 Restaurant to Be Closed

We would like to inform you that, due to the 52 nd Film Festival for Children and Youth, the Restaurant and the Cafeteria in the U13 building will be closed on Friday, 1 June 2012. On the same day the opening hours of the TBU Library will be restricted – the Library will be open until 16:00.

 

Chinese Course to Be Launched in September

In September 2012 Tomas Bata University will launch a new Chinese course .

 

Two Awards to the Universalia Magazine

Universalia , the magazine published by Tomas Bata University in Zlín, received two awards in the 10 th edition of the ‘Golden Semicolon’ contest featuring promotional materials.

 

International Week at TBU

From 16 to 20 April 2012 the second edition of the International Week organized by the TBU International Office took place. During the event, almost 40 teachers from partner universities abroad, e.g. from Slovakia, Poland, Great Britain, Belgium, France, Norway, etc. visited TBU. The event featured lectures by the teachers from abroad and presentations about foreign universities given at TBU faculties. During the International Day held on 16 April, TBU students presented their experience with study periods and traineeships abroad.

 

Main Cash Office to Be Closed

Please note that the main Cash Office will be closed due to the due to the cashier’s holiday on 7 May 2012 . During the mentioned period no cash transactions can be carried out. Thank you for your understanding.

 

Mrs. Sonja Bata Received TBU Honorary Degree

Mrs. Sonja Bata became the next holder of the TBU honorary degree, conferred upon her by Tomas Bata University in Zlín on 26 April 2012. “We decided to award the TBU honorary degree to Mrs. Sonja Bata in recognition of her long-term support of TBU – from its establishment to the present time, in recognition of her promotion of the University abroad and of her personal contribution to the development of international relations of TBU,” said Prof. Petr Sáha, Rector of TBU.

 

Another Accomplishment by the Product Design Studio

The Product Design Studio at FMC achieved another notable success, this time at the MOBITEX - the International Fair for Furniture and Interior Design 2012 held in Brno. Ms. Anna Štěpánková, a third-year student, took the first place in the student section of the international GRAND PRIX MOBITEX 2012 competition for her dining armchair Tamashi.

 

Junior Glass Match

Ms. Anna Minxová, a third-year student (Glass Design Studio), took 3rd place in the international contest ‘Junior Glass Match’ held in Carlsbad.

 

Show-off / Zeig dich 2012

We would like to invite you to attend a contest featuring presentations prepared by students and held in English or in German. The event entitled “Show-off / Zeig dich 2012” will take place in the room 549/U13 at 10:00 on Wednesday, 2 May 2012.

 

Rag Day 2012

The tenth edition of the Rag Day will take place in Zlín on 30 April 2012. The traditional student spring festival will begin with a fancy dress parade passing through the centre of the town, followed by afternoon and evening concerts, the election of the Rag Day King and other events held in the Peace Square. Mrs. Sonja Bata to Receive TBU Honorary Degree

Mrs. Sonja Bata will be the next holder of the honorary degree of Tomas Bata University in Zlín. The TBU Scientific Board approved the proposal submitted by Prof. Petr Sáha, TBU Rector, to confer the honorary degree of doctor honoris causa on Mrs. Sonja Bata in recognition of her long-term support of TBU – from its establishment to the present time, in recognition of her promotion of the University abroad and of her personal contribution to the development of international relations of TBU.
