Digital Resource Relating to History and Activities of Bata Company to Be Created at TBU

A digital archive that will house various materials relating to history and operations of the Bata company will be created at Tomas Bata University (TBU). An agreement on the creation of the archive was signed on 13 December 2017 by TBU Rector, Prof. Ing. Petr Sáha, CSc., and granddaughter of the founder of the shoe company, Mrs Rosemarie Blyth Bata.

“According to the agreement, Bata Information Centre run by the University Library will gather approximately 50,000 items – photographs, printed materials and other documents relating to the history and operations of the shoe company. The creation of the digital resource will be funded by the Canadian Compass Limited, represented by Mrs Bata. The company will pay EUR 33,000 to TBU for the project,” said Prof. Sáha.

The idea to create a Bata-related archive originated at TBU several years ago. “The goal of our project is to create a uniquely comprehensive and user-friendly resource that brings a vast range of material relating to history and evolution of the Bata company under one (digital) roof,” Mrs Rosemarie Blyth Bata described the project.

The project is intended to be completed by the end of November 2019.
