Applicants are admitted on the basis of results of the National Comparative Exams NCE (Národní srovnávací zkoušky; NSZ), a test in basics of social sciences administered by Scio, s.r.o. during the period from 12 Dec. 2015 to 30 April 2016.

Degree Course Content:

The goal of the course is to prepare students for a profession as a health and social care worker. The profession includes activities in preventive, diagnostic and rehabilitative care in the health and social areas, and also activities in specific nursing care when responding to the social needs of the patient/client. The course includes theoretical instruction in disciplines essential for the basic requirements in social care and in the related field of health care provision. The course also includes practical training that increases knowledge and develops skills in social work methods related to the solution of complicated social situations of patients resulting from their illnesses or disabilities.

 

Profile and Future Career of a Graduate:

The profession of a health and social care worker involves preventive, diagnostic and rehabilitative care in the health and social care field. It includes providing specific nursing care to meet the social needs of patients/clients. Graduates perform professional activities in the field. As health care workers with professional competence in social care, they are engaged in providing social research, planning and counseling, and analytic, methodological and conceptual activities in the health and social care field. They also focus on professional activities in settings offering health and social care, including prevention and screening activities, crisis assistance, social counseling and social rehabilitation.

Graduates are able to find positions in the following settings:

  • state and private healthcare settings (in the fields of acute and long-term care)

  • psychiatric hospitals
