Bronze in Triple Jump and Valuable Points in the 5K: TBU Athletes Shine at the Czech Academic Games
7. July 2025Two athletes from Tomas Bata University in Zlín achieved remarkable success at this year’s Czech Academic Games held in Ostrava from 23 to 27 June.
Victoria Kuchmister (Faculty of Humanities) claimed the bronze medal in the triple jump, while Filip Vabroušek (Faculty of Applied Informatics) finished 5th in the 5,000-metre run.
These results earned TBU two competition points, placing the university in 24th position overall.
“With a small but determined team, we aimed to stand our ground against universities fielding dozens of athletes. The bronze in triple jump and fifth place in the 5K are valuable proof that strong individual preparation can compete with larger teams,” said Mgr. Zdeněk Melichárek, Ph.D., Director of the Department of Physical Training.
The Czech Academic Games represent the largest multi-sport event for university students in the Czech Republic. This year’s edition welcomed around 2,500 students from over 40 universities and higher education institutions, competing across 33 sports disciplines.
Congratulations to Victoria and Filip for their outstanding representation of both the university and the town of Zlín. Our thanks also go to the coaches, faculties, and partners for their support. We look forward to more athletic achievements in the 2025/2026 academic year.
