Rector’s Sports Day Celebrates TBU’s 25th Anniversary
20. May 2026As part of the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of Tomas Bata University in Zlín, this year’s traditional Rector’s Sports Day combined the university’s historic milestone with a wide range of sporting activities for students and staff. The highlight of the programme was a symbolic 25 × 25-metre swimming relay, chosen to represent each year of the university’s development and growth.
The main relay event was dominated by a team that delivered an impressive performance, finishing in a winning time of 8 minutes and 27 seconds. The student competition remained thrilling until the very last touch, with every second and every relay exchange proving crucial.

Alongside the swimming relay, participants also took part in four additional team challenges focused on agility, coordination and cooperation. These included relay T-shirt dressing, “princess transport” races and energetic worm-style jumping contests. Together, the activities reflected the central message of the day: the importance of teamwork and a strong university community.

As in previous years, the event also featured a variety of other sports, including tennis, badminton, football, volleyball, inline skating races, an aerobics marathon and a bench press competition. This year’s organised walk attracted 520 participants. Rector’s Sports Day was therefore not only a celebration of the university’s anniversary, but also a reminder that the TBU community stands together not only in lecture halls, but in sport as well.
Congratulations to all the winners!
