Stories of Shoes: A Dialogue between Generations and Disciplines of the U3A and the Shoe Design Studio
10. September 2026You are warmly invited to the opening of the exhibition Stories of Shoes: A Dialogue between Generations and Disciplines of the University of the Third Age and the Shoe Design Studio, which will take place on Thursday, 10 September 2026 at 5 pm on the first floor of Zlín Castle.
The exhibition brings together work by the University of the Third Age and the Shoe Design Studio of the Faculty of Multimedia Communications at Tomas Bata University in Zlín. Through painting, calligraphy and contemporary design, it explores the legacy of the Bata brand through the eyes of different generations and disciplines.
The central theme is a series of portraits of Tomas Bata composed of numerous individual paintings. The exhibition will also feature paintings depicting Zlín’s architecture, personal memories associated with particular shoes and their calligraphic interpretations, as well as original contemporary footwear designs. The different parts of the exhibition are connected by the idea of the mark left by people, the city and time.
The exhibition will run until 15 November 2026.
