Science Night | Communication

Science Night, held under this new name for the first time this year, is one of the largest events promoting and popularising science around the world, and Zlín will once again be part of it. Don’t miss out and mark 25 September 2026 in your calendar! This year’s central theme is COMMUNICATION – from body language, secret codes and robots to communication at the cellular level and in crisis situations. Entry to the entire event is FREE.

What can you look forward to?

Loads of experiments and demonstrations – because that’s what a science night is all about! From spectacular chemistry shows and secret writing to making your own slime or super bouncy balls.

Interactive science workshops where you can experience science first-hand – chat with the BOTT-E chatbot, have a drink mixed by a robotic bartender, try out a laser shooting range or uncover counterfeit banknotes.

Short talks about science and a Science Battle.

Cultural programme and live music – the evening will culminate at 8:30 pm in the courtyard of the Faculty of Technology with a concert by the legendary Czech band VLTAVA, led by Robert Nebřenský.

This year, TBU will host the event across five venues

Faculty of Technology, TBU (building U15, Vavrečkova 5669) – The hub of university activities! You can look forward to experiments and activities from across the university, a Science Battle, chemistry shows, robots from the Faculty of Applied Informatics, a financial detective game from the Faculty of Management and Economics, outdoor activities and the closing concert by VLTAVA.

Centre of Polymer Systems (CPS – building U17, tř. Tomáše Bati 5678) – Take a look into the world of advanced materials: try electrospinning, producing fibres thinner than a human hair, plastic blow moulding, on-the-spot laser cutting of souvenirs or a slime laboratory.

University Centre (building U13, nám. T. G. Masaryka 5555) – Plenty of fun in the heart of the university! Be sure not to miss the special scientific and interactive programme prepared by the TBU Library.

Faculty of Humanities & Gallery G18 (building U18, Štefánikova 5670)Discover communication across cultures, languages and the animal kingdom. Outside the building, you can explore the mobile emergency response unit of the Zlín Region Emergency Medical Service. Inside, you can try out medical and obstetric simulators, while at Gallery G18 you can visit an interactive exhibition and take part in the Art of Geometry workshop.

Pathology Department, Tomas Bata Regional Hospital – A unique opportunity to see “how things work” behind the scenes in hospital pathology. This programme requires advance booking.
