Doctoral Graduation Ceremony and Presentation of Associate Professors and Professors

March 2020Degree certificates and letters of appointment were handed over to recent PhD graduates and to newly appointed Associate Professors and Professors at Tomas Bata University in Zlín on 28 February 2020. Graduation ceremonies have traditionally been held at TBU at the beginning of the year to commemorate the anniversary of the University’s establishment on 1 January 2001.
Last year, a total of 40 graduates (among them 7 international students) completed their studies in doctoral programmes at TBU. At the same time, 5 new Associate Professors were appointed. Another two TBU employees obtained the degree of Associate Professor at Mendel University in Brno. 4 newly appointed Professors were also introduced during the graduation ceremony (a total of 5 candidates participated in a professorial appointment procedure held at TBU last year). And yet another 3 candidates were appointed Professors at other Czech universities.
At TBU, Ph.D. degrees can be awarded at five faculties and in the Centre of Polymer Systems, and that in the following areas:
- Biomaterials
- Nanotechnology
- Food industry
- Polymers
- Materials chemistry
- Tools and processes
- Management and economics
- Finance
- Multimedia and design
- Informatics
- Pedagogy
At present, another 397 students study in one of the doctoral programmes carried out at TBU. Since 2001, 755 PhD students from various countries graduated at TBU.
The degree of Associate Professor is a scientific and pedagogical rank in the academic world. Habilitation procedures can be held at 4 TBU faculties.
