Experience Science 2026
16. April 2026How is chocolate cheese made – and what does it taste like? What exactly is hidden in ordinary milk? And how does an injection moulding machine manage to produce a plastic product in just a few seconds?
We will be answering these questions at our hands-on workshops. Come and experience science with us! The Faculty of Technology at Tomas Bata University in Zlín is organising the Experience Science festival.
The event will offer a wide range of interactive workshops for secondary school students as well as the general public. Visitors will have the opportunity to try working in a laboratory, discover how food products are made, and see real equipment in action, including the BabyPlast injection moulding machine.

The event will take place on 22 and 23 April 2026, from 9am to 5pm. The morning programme on both days is reserved for secondary schools, while the general public is welcome on Wednesday afternoon.
The public programme also includes an evening discussion, Ask a Scientist, which will take place on 22 April from 6 p.m. This open-format session gives visitors the chance to ask anything they are curious about – from complex topics to seemingly simple questions. The discussion will focus, among other things, on plastics, their production, uses and environmental impact. The panel will feature macromolecular chemist Markéta Ilčíková, biochemist Marek Koutný, and zoologist and science communicator Eva Bílková.
Date: Wednesday 22 April and Thursday 23 April 2026
Venue: Faculty of Technology, TBU in Zlín (Building U15, Vavrečkova 5669 – near the bus station)
Admission to all workshops is free of charge.
