Lifetime Achievement Award Presented to Dr Anna Krátká from TBU’s Faculty of Humanities

Anna Krátká from the Faculty of Humanities at Tomas Bata University in Zlín has received a prestigious professional honour. On the occasion of International Nurses Day, the Czech Nurses Association awarded her the Florence Nightingale Award for Lifetime Achievement. She received the award on 12 May at the Lucie Bílá Theatre from the President of the Czech Nurses Association, Martina Šochmanová, and the Czech Minister of Health, Adam Vojtěch.

PhDr. Anna Krátká, Ph.D., has devoted more than five decades to healthcare and the education of healthcare professionals. She began her professional career in 1972 at the former District Institute of National Health in Gottwaldov and, over the years, has held a wide range of positions – from bedside nursing and specialised care to methodological work and university teaching. Since 2004, she has worked as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Health Care Sciences within the Faculty of Humanities at TBU in Zlín.

Alongside her teaching and research activities, she has long been involved in lifelong learning for nurses, mentoring and the development of nursing degree programmes. At the Faculty of Humanities, she served for many years as Vice-Dean for Lifelong Learning and Practical Training, as well as Head of the Department of Nursing. She also played a significant role in building the Faculty’s international cooperation and developing professional partnerships.

In recent years, she has focused intensively on palliative care. Until March this year, she worked as Coordinator of Palliative Care at the Burešov Senior Home in Zlín, and at the Faculty of Humanities she contributed to the preparation of a new Master’s programme in Home and Hospice Care.

“The greatest reward for me has always been the people I was able to help and the students to whom I could pass on my experience. That is something that fulfils a person throughout their entire life,” said Anna Krátká.

The Florence Nightingale Award is among the highest professional honours presented by the Czech Nurses Association. It recognises individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the development of nursing and healthcare education in the Czech Republic.
