Nano Face Masks Made at TBU to Help Protect Stomatologists in Zlín

March 2020An extremely valuable gift in the form of medical face masks made from nanomaterial that is able to offer protection from catching Coronavirus has been handed over by Prof. Vladimír Sedlařík, Rector of Tomas Bata University in Zlín, to MUDr. Petr Drbal, Chairperson of the Regional Dental Chamber in Zlín.
Nano face masks intended for doctors of dentistry in the region of Zlín are made from special material developed at the Centre of Polymer Systems in cooperation with the SPUR, a.s. company. This company has launched the mass production of nanotextiles at the present time, when health workers face a desperate shortage of protective gear.
“The face masks have been designed and sewn by our colleagues from the Fashion Design studio of the Faculty of Multimedia Communications. We have decided to donate them to stomatologists who are exposed to the risk of infection from Coronavirus during the performance of their work. High quality protective kit for these medical professionals is in enormous demand right now,” said Prof. Sedlařík.
