Original Project Based on Virtual Bank and Own Currency Created at TBU
1. December 2021Studying finances does not have to be boring. An original project entitled “UFbanka” is a proof of this fact. It refers to a fictitious bank, established at the Department of Finances and Accounting of the Faculty of Management and Economics.
The UFbanka is a virtual joint-stock company, whose shareholders are, besides members of the Department, both Bachelor’s and Master’s students of degree programmes focused on finances, financial technology, taxes and accounting.
“Students can gain their UFcoins, for example, for extraordinary academic performance, participation in national and international contests focused on the sphere of finances, or involvement in research activities carried out at the Department,” doc. Ing. Adriana Knápková, Ph.D., guarantor of the degree programme in Finances and Financial Technology, describes the principles of the game. “On the contrary, they can spend them for activities facilitated by the UFbank, such as a dream internship, a day long top manager shadowing programme in a company, individual tutorials, promotional items or services provided by partners to the UFbank,” adds Adriana Knápková.
Not only teachers but also students have had an opportunity to gain valuable practical experience, because establishing a fictitious bank and emitting their own currency is not what people often come across in their everyday life.
The purpose of this long-term activity is to increase students’ knowledge in the field of finance, to activate their learning potential, which will also lead to their involvement in the life of the Department, all with the use of a game based on the idea of virtual banking.
