Prof. Milan Adámek Re-elected as Candidate for Appointment as Rector of TBU in Zlín
30. September 2026On Tuesday, 29 September, the Academic Senate of Tomas Bata University in Zlín re-elected Prof. Mgr. Milan Adámek, Ph.D. as the candidate for appointment as Rector of TBU in a secret ballot. The incumbent Rector has thus received the confidence of the university’s academic community to continue in office for another term.
Prof. Milan Adámek has headed Tomas Bata University since December 2022. He was first elected as a candidate for appointment as Rector in September 2022, when he was elected while serving as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Applied Informatics. His re-election was decided by members of the TBU Academic Senate in a secret ballot.
According to Milan Adámek, TBU should become a modern and digital university with less administration and more space for education and research. He considers the launch of construction of a development centre for digitalisation to be a key priority. He also sees a need to focus on the safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching and research. “I am pleased that the TBU Academic Senate has expressed its confidence in me, allowing me to continue with projects that are already under way. I see the greatest room for improvement, but also the greatest opportunity for our university, in the digitalisation of internal processes,” said Milan Adámek.
The other candidates for the position of Rector were Prof. Roman Čermák, former Dean of the TBU Faculty of Technology, and Prof. David Tuček, former Dean of the Faculty of Management and Economics. Both currently serve as Vice-Deans at the mentioned faculties. The Rector of TBU is appointed by the President of the Czech Republic upon the proposal of the TBU Academic Senate.
