
TBU Appoints New Dean of the Faculty of Applied Informatics

Prof. Jiří Vojtěšek, who has been holding the office of Vice-Dean for Bachelor’s and Master’s Studies so far, has been appointed new Dean of the Faculty of Applied Informatics of Tomas Bata University in Zlín by Prof. Vladimír Sedlařík, Rector of TBU. Jiří Vojtěšek was unanimously elected by the Academic Senate. He will assume the office on Monday, 28 March 2022.
The new Dean has set himself several goals to achieve in the sphere of pedagogy and research during his term of office. “I would like to stabilize student numbers at the Faculty and make degree courses focused on automation and robotics more attractive for applicants and students. In the sphere of research and development, I would like to support patents and non-publication outputs of applied research, such as various utility models and industrial designs,” described Assoc. Prof. Jiří Vojtěšek.
According to the Dean, it is also necessary to support the submission of applications for national and international grants and greater involvement in long-term projects. The promotion of educational and scientific cooperation with other educational institutions, companies and organizations, and participation in the preparation of strategic documents of the Municipality of Zlín and the Zlín Regional Authority in the sphere of digitization shall be of equal importance.
