TBU Celebrates Bronze Medal Win at the World Summer University Games in Chengdu!

August 2023Dominika Ponížilová, student of the TBU Faculty of Technology, Czech representative in artistic gymnastics, scored great success in women’s vault at the World Summer University Games in Chengdu, China, thus bringing a valuable bronze medal to Zlín. Only two athletes from Japan placed ahead of her.
Dominika departed for China on Friday, 28 July, and arrived in the Olympic Village on Sunday, 30 July. The journey was really long, but she had no time to recover from it. She had her first training session on Sunday morning.
“The preparation was demanding, particularly the last two weeks were difficult, since I had to cope with injuries and deal with a sad family situation. That’s why I went to China with one single goal in my mind: compete for my grandma. I know she would be proud of me. I’m very happy for my achievement,” said Dominika.
Nevertheless, Dominika can celebrate another excellent accomplishment, bacause she was placed 7th in the women’s all-around competition. “I am really happy that I could represent the Czech Republic and Tomas Bata University at such a prestigious sporting event,” concluded Dominika.
