TBU Donated Disinfection Gel of Its Own Production

In connection with the outbreak of coronavirus disease, market is facing an acute shortage of disinfection gel. For this reason, Prof. Vladimír Sedlařík, Rector of TBU, has donated the disinfection on behalf of Tomas Bata University in Zlín to the representatives of the Burešov Residential Care Home for the Elderly, Czech Red Cross, as well as to the Regional Public Health Office Zlín.

“We have donated health-certified disinfection gel produced by TBU. We aim to help reduce the risk of the disease among the most vulnerable group of inhabitants,” said Prof. Vladimír Sedlařík, Rector of TBU.

“We are extremely grateful for this gift, it was such a nice surprise; we greatly appreciate such help. We recently ordered hand disinfection, but we only got half of the amount we had requested,” Vlastimil Zaydlar, Director of the Burešov Residential Care Home for the Elderly, described the current situation.

The Rector of TBU has handed over the antibacterial gel bottles to the Regional Public Health Office Zlín, Municipal Authority Otrokovice that will give the gel bottles to primary schools, as well as to the Regional Association of the Czech Red Cross in Zlín.

“When we started looking for disinfectants, they were practically sold out. Therefore, we are really happy for the gift. We need the gel mainly for nurses who go to households and also for the needs of our shelter,” said Michaela Stýblová, Director of the Regional Association of the Czech Red Cross in Zlín.

The production of the antibacterial gel by Tomas Bata University in Zlín has been properly registered by the Ministry of Health since 2009 and TBU has developed its own knowhow. Almost 500 litres of the disinfection gel can be produced per day in the so-called clean rooms of the Technology Transfer Centre.
