TBU Students Competing at Summer World University Games in Chengdu, China

Students of Tomas Bata University in Zlín have a unique opportunity to represent their university and the Czech Republic at the Summer World University Games in Chengdu, China. The event, originally scheduled to take place in 2021, was postponed several times due to the global pandemic; but now they are ready to compete on a new date, namely from 28 July to 8 August 2023.

These three TBU students will compete with other students from all over the world during the Summer World University Games held in Chengdu, namely in artistic gymnastics, half-marathon and volleyball. The Czech delegation in Chengdu, China, comprises athletes to compete in 12 disciplines who were nominated by the Czech Association of University Sports (ČAUS).

Dominika Ponížilová, student of the Faculty of Technology, who will represent TBU in artistic gymnastics, has already achieved numerous accomplishments in international competitions. Radim Šulc from the Faculty of Management and Economics was nominated to a volleyball team on behalf of TBU. Barbora Macurová, talented student of the TBU Faculty of Humanities, will represent the Czech Republic in half marathon at the Summer World University Games in Chengdu. Twenty-three-year-old student from Frýdlant nad Ostravicí is one of the most talented and successful skyrunners in the Czech Republic. She won silver medal at the 27th Czech Marathon Championship, which took place in Prague at the beginning of May.
