TBU Will Become Vibrant with Students Again. Partially, at Least

In accordance with the loosening of the anti-epidemic measures by the Government of the Czech Republic, some university students will be allowed to attend classes in person, starting from Wednesday 25 November. Therefore, some of the students of Tomas Bata University in Zlín will return back to school.

Students attending laboratory, experimental or artistic classes in the last year of their Bachelor’s or Master’s programme where the number of students present is not higher than 20 will be newly allowed to attend classes in TBU premises.

“It is very important for final year students to attend classes in person. Laboratory practical classes and work in artistic studios form an essential part of their Bachelor’s and Master’s theses and projects,” explains Prof. Vladimír Sedlařík, Rector of TBU.

Students studying in doctoral programmes will also be allowed to attend classes. Examinations where the number of persons present at the same time is not higher than 10 may be held. Individual tutorials and individual visits to libraries for the purpose of collection or return/submission of study-related materials are also permitted.

“Approximately 1,500 students in final year of Bachelor’s programmes, 1,200 Master’s students and up to 460 doctoral students are allowed to return back to TBU,” says Lubomír Beníček, TBU Vice-Rector for Pedagogical Activities.

Students who are allowed to attend classes in person, may also use the accommodation services provided by the Halls of Residence. These include approximately 110 students.

“These students are allowed to return to the Halls of Residence and are required to observe appropriate hygiene measures. Other students will be allowed to return to the Halls of Residence in accordance with other regulations issued by the Government of the CR,” adds Michal Navrátil, Director of TBU Halls of Residence and Refectory.

The Refectory continues to provide services to employees and to students who are accommodated in the Residence Halls. Entry to TBU catering facilities is not allowed to diners from among the general public. International business trips have been suspended and events organized by TBU have been cancelled. Strict hygiene measures have been adopted in all premises of the University; persons present in the buildings are obliged to wear respiratory protective equipment; hand sanitizer dispensers have been placed in TBU buildings.
