The CIT Project Funded by the Zlín Regional Authority Has Significantly Strengthened Research at TBU
16. December 2025The CIT project, implemented at Tomas Bata University in Zlín, has received financial support from the Zlín Regional Authority amounting to CZK 30 million. The project has made a significant contribution to the development of the University’s R&D and creative activities, the strengthening of its research capacities, and the expansion of international cooperation (Creativity, Intelligence & Talent for the Zlín Region 2024–2025).
Within the framework of the CIT project, a total of 55 postdoctoral researchers and doctoral students have been supported. An important benefit of the project is its openness to external experts: 18 postdoctoral researchers came from other institutions in the Czech Republic and abroad, seven of whom had previously worked at foreign universities. Among the researchers involved is, for example, a graduate of the prestigious Sapienza University of Rome in Italy, one of the oldest universities in the world, founded in 1303.
The CIT project has also had a significant impact on publication outputs. To date, approximately 107 scholarly publications have been published within the project, with a further 88 publications currently in progress. Equally important is the project activity of the researchers involved. During the implementation of the project, they participated in 4 ongoing projects as principal investigators, 37 ongoing projects as members of research teams, 16 submitted projects as principal investigators, and 26 submitted projects as team members.
According to the Vice-Rector for R&D and Creative Activities at Tomas Bata University in Zlín, Professor Petr Humpolíček, the project has had a fundamental impact on the development of university research: “The support provided by the Zlín Regional Authority has enabled us to further develop a high-quality and competitive environment for early-career researchers and to attract talented experts from the Czech Republic and abroad. The CIT project clearly demonstrates that targeted investment in human potential is key to the further development of research at Tomas Bata University in Zlín.”
The CIT project thus represents an example of successful cooperation between the Zlín Regional Authority and Tomas Bata University in Zlín, contributing to the development of science, innovation and the international prestige of the region and the Czech Republic as a whole.
