The TBU Faculty of Multimedia Communications Opens 2 New Degree Programmes

The Faculty of Multimedia Communications of TBU in Zlín has been granted accreditation for two new degree programmes. Next year, the Faculty will open its fourteenth Studio, namely Jewellery Design. In addition, a new Bachelor’s programme in Creative Industries and Digital Culture will be opened within the Arts Management Studio.

“The degree programme in Creative Industries and Digital Culture will become a place where theory turns into practice. It will focus on innovation, digital arts and design. Education will be provided with emphasis on audience, sustainability, diversity, inclusion and accessibility. And that in a manner enabling that culture and arts are accessible for everyone without distinction,” says Eva Gartnerová, Head of the Arts Management Studio, when describing the specialization of the new degree programme.

The degree programme in Creative Industries and Digital Culture has been created in order to offer its graduates a wide range of career prospects in all areas of cultural and creative industries. The portfolio of course units offered, with some of them taught in English, is, therefore, varied – Cultural Management, Visual Studies for the Digital Age, Curation of New Media, Digital Design without Barriers, Green Design and Sustainable Materials.

The new Jewellery Design studio also accepts its responsibility towards the environment and puts emphasis on sustainability. Next year, the Studio will also open its first degree course and is expecting to receive applications from secondary school graduates and from other interested applicants. “Students enrolled on degree programmes carried out by our Studio will be qualified to work in the relevant field thanks to their understanding of current trends and market needs, will acquire the ability to apply modern technologies in the process of creation of costume jewellery and fine jewellery, and learn the skills of effectively promoting and selling their products,” adds Sabina Psotková, Head of the Jewellery Design Studio.

Applications to study Bachelor’s programmes carried out by newly established and existing Studios in the academic year 2024/2025 can be submitted electronically via the prihlaska.utb.cz website before 30 November 2023. Applicants for study can view the premises of the Faculty of Multimedia Communications of TBU in Zlín during the Open Day, scheduled to take place on Friday, 10 November 2023, from 9 am to 5 pm.

For more than 20 years, the Faculty of Multimedia Communications of TBU in Zlín has been educating all kinds of designers, filmmakers, photographers and communication experts. The Faculty currently comprises 13 art studios located in three university buildings, and also the Department of Marketing Communications, owns the G18 Gallery and, every year, prepares cultural projects that enrich the programme of events held in Zlín.
