Third Year of the “Cycling to Work” Challenge at TBU: Fewer Participants, Strong Commitment

Employees of Tomas Bata University in Zlín once again took part in the nationwide Cycling to Work Challenge throughout May. Although this year’s edition attracted fewer participants than in previous years, those who joined demonstrated an impressive level of commitment and consistency in their sustainable commuting habits.

A total of 75 members of staff registered for the challenge, achieving an outstanding 78% regularity rate while making a meaningful contribution to reducing carbon emissions. Over the course of the month, participants collectively travelled 11,800 kilometres across 3,445 journeys, with an average trip length of 5.4 kilometres.

“I am delighted that this has become an established tradition at our university and that we have now successfully completed the third year of the challenge,” said TBU’s Sustainability Manager. “Although the group was slightly smaller this year, it was clear that those who took part were genuinely passionate about the initiative. Their enthusiasm, commitment and team spirit created a fantastic atmosphere throughout the campaign. I would like to thank everyone for their energy and dedication.”

Following the conclusion of the challenge, the most active individuals and teams were recognised for their regular participation or covering the greatest distances during the month. Tomas Bata University would like to thank all colleagues who took part and helped promote healthier, more sustainable ways of travelling to work.
