Video Promoting Zlin Design Week Festival Was Created with the Help of AI

On 8 April 2024, the Czech Television started screening a short video promoting the Zlin Design Week Festival. The creators of the promotional video decided to use artificial intelligence. The video was made at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications (FMC) of Tomas Bata University in Zlín; the Czech Television is a media partner of the Festival. By using the latest technology, students reflect this year’s topic of the Festival: “The Future Lies in Design”.

“Artificial intelligence is one of the biggest contemporary issues discussed in society and rapidly spreading through the internet. We decided to keep up with the modern trend and create a non-commercial video, largely co-created with artificial intelligence. We wanted to provide the viewers with a different experience than classic advertising, and thus bring a new approach and innovation to the Czech Television,” explained Vojtěch Kovařík, art director of the Zlin Design Week Festival and first-year student of Digital Design at the FMC of TBU.

The non-commercial promotional video, co-created with the help of artificial intelligence, is twenty seconds long. Its script and concept were designed by students in September 2023. According to Vojtěch Kovařík, the goal was to create a short video that would catch the viewer’s eye and would be sufficiently informative at the same time.

Third-year Graphic Design student Dalibor Itze, second-year Audiovisual Arts student Petr Jedlička and fourth-year Digital Design student Lukáš Demovič also participated in the creation of the video. The script and the concept were designed by Marek Kos and Klára Pelcová from the Department of Marketing Communications of the FMC of TBU.

Zlin Design Week Festival, organized under the patronage of the Faculty Multimedia Communications of Tomas Bata University in Zlín, will be held in Zlín from 8 May to 14 May 2024.
