Zlín Welcomes World Leaders in Rheology during the International Conference “Novel Trends in Rheology”

On 30–31 July 2025, the Faculty of Technology of Tomas Bata University in Zlín hosted the 10th anniversary of the international conference Novel Trends in Rheology X. For 20 years, this event has been one of the most significant professional gatherings in the fields of rheology and polymer engineering. The conference is organised by the Department of Polymer Engineering at the FT of TBU in collaboration with the Rheology Group of the Czech Chemical Society and the Applied Rheology Division of the American Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE).

The two-day programme featured lectures reflecting the latest trends in both fundamental and applied research. The conference was designed to appeal to both academic researchers from universities and scientific institutions, as well as industry professionals. The high standard of the programme was ensured by the careful selection of invited speakers from leading global institutions. Among the speakers were Prof. Alan Jeffrey Giacomin from the University of Nevada (USA), Prof. Savvas George Hatzikiriakos from the University of British Columbia (Canada) and Prof. Masayuki Yamaguchi from the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Japan). Representing the Czech scientific community were, among others, Assoc. Prof. Jiří Vlček from Compuplast Software, Dr. Zdeněk Starý from the Czech Academy of Sciences and Prof. Martin Zatloukal from the TBU Faculty of Technology .

The conference also included a poster session, an exhibition and a social evening designed for informal discussions and networking.
