Semiconductor Materials and Nanotechnology
This programme is taught in Czech only
Some things are invisible. But without them, the world would come to a standstill.
Microchips—tiny components made from semiconductor materials—control computers, phones, cars, and solar power plants. They are the heart of modern electronics, and today’s technology could not exist without them.
In our specialization, you will learn to understand their structure, properties, and behavior during manufacturing and application. We combine theory from physics and chemistry with practical laboratory work, ensuring you understand not only the semiconductor materials themselves, but also the nanostructures and technologies behind modern chip production. You will get hands-on experience with thin-film deposition, material characterization at the micro- and nanoscale, and methods used to design and optimize advanced materials for future technologies. The program also covers data handling, statistics, and manufacturing process optimization.
This specialization was developed in cooperation with onsemi, a global leader in semiconductor chip manufacturing and technology. As a result, you will work on real-world projects during your studies and gain practical experience directly in a top-tier industrial environment. And after graduation? Specialists in chip and semiconductor technology are in extremely high demand—ranging from electrical engineering and the automotive industry to energy sectors and global tech giants. If you want to be there when the materials and technologies powering tomorrow’s world are created, you’ve come to the right place.
Career Opportunities: Companies manufacturing and developing microchips and semiconductor components (onsemi, Infineon Technologies, ABB, Foxconn, Rohde & Schwarz, Applied Materials, etc.), multinational corporations (Honeywell, Micron Technology, STMicroelectronics), automotive, electrical engineering, or energy industries, R&D centers, and universities.
