TBU Christmas Tree Lighting Up Ceremony

The traditional pre-Christmas event, TBU Christmas Tree Lighting Up Ceremony, will be held on Tuesday 4 December 2018, starting at 4.30pm in front of the building of the Faculty of Management and Economics (U2) in Mostní Street in Zlín.

The event will commence at 4.30pm and the opening speech will be given by Prof. Petr Sáha, TBU Rector, and Patrik Dohnal, President of the TBU Student Union. Attendees may look forward to enjoying a cultural performance by children from the TBU Nursery School Qočna, Christmas carols by the Viva La Musica choir made up of students from the Grammar School Uherské Hradiště and conducted by their teacher Mgr. Jakub Tomala, performed together with the Cifra dulcimer band.

The event is intended for TBU students and staff, their families and friends. Come and enjoy a wonderful pre-Christmas atmosphere with us. Children will have the opportunity to decorate Christmas gingerbreads in the lobby of U2 building and take part in a number of other activities and also meet St. Nicholas and his helpers. The programme will also feature a projection of a fairy tale movie. Small Christmas presents will be offered for sale in the lobby.

An official time off has been announced by the Rector to take place on 4 December 2018 from 4pm on the occasion of the TBU Christmas Tree Lighting Up Ceremony. During the time announced, no classes will be held at the Faculties and component parts of TBU in Zlín and the examination sessions and tutorial hours of academic staff shall be cancelled.

Programme:

4.30pm – opening of the event by Prof. Petr Sáha, TBU Rector, and Patrik Dohnal, President of the TBU Student Union

4.35pm – cultural performance by children from the TBU Nursery School Qočna

4.55pm – lighting up of the Christmas tree

5pm – performance by the Viva La Musica choir from the Grammar School Uherské Hradiště and the Cifra dulcimer band

6pm – projection of The Polar Express and Home Alone movies in lecture halls A and B, respectively.
