Conference on “Disaster Medicine” to Take Place in Zlín This Week

The Faculty of Logistics and Crisis Management of TBU in Zlín in cooperation with the EGO Zlín company has organized the conference on “Disaster Medicine”. The conference is scheduled to take place at the Faculty of Management and Economics in Mostní Street in Zlín from 17 to 18 May 2023. The event is intended for experts in crisis management and healthcare and focuses on current problems and challenges in the field of population protection.

The main topics of the conference will comprise: New challenges in the field of population protection and their solutions, chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear protection of the population, dealing with natural or industrial emergencies, a third year with COVID-19, risks arising from the conflict in Ukraine and other potential threats of the present time.

Among attendees to the event, the following can be named: Members of Integrated Rescue System units, employees of crisis departments of towns and municipalities, medical facilities in the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic, representatives of universities, public health authorities, military forces, aid agencies, social workers as well as other people interested who come into contact with crisis management as part of their professional career.

“It is a unique chance for experts from various fields to share their experience, ideas and innovations, thus contributing to improving the safety and well-being of the inhabitants of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. It brings together experts from business and industry, academia and students at the same time. Therefore, we consider our event to be an opportunity for bringing education and practice together,” says Assoc. Prof. Ing Zuzana Tučková, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Logistics and Crisis Management.

The conference on “Disaster Medicine” is a prestigious international event aimed to open up opportunities for mutual exchange of the latest theoretical and practical knowledge and experience. The conference enables an in-depth discussion and sharing of experience among researchers, teachers and experts from business and industry. The organizers have prepared demonstration of work to be given in front of the building of the Faculty of Management and Economics on Wednesday from 17:15 to 18:15.

The conference is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic, the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic, Radim Holiš – Governor of the Zlín Region, Jiří Korec – Mayor of the city of Zlín, and the Society for Radiobiology and Crisis Planning.

The Faculty of Logistics and Crisis Management based in Uherské Hradiště is one of six faculties of Tomas Bata University in Zlín. It was founded in 2009; at present, the Faculty has 1,300 students enrolled.
