Industrial Design Studio Showcases Electric Supercar StudentCar Titan in Berlin
2. June 2026The Industrial Design Studio at Tomas Bata University in Zlín (TBU) and VSB – Technical University of Ostrava unveiled the prototype of the unique electric supercar StudentCar Titan in its world premiere at the prestigious Berlin Design Week 2026. The vehicle was developed as part of the doctoral project of MgA. Rostislav Zapletal, Ph.D., within the Industrial Design Studio at TBU.
This year’s Berlin Design Week, celebrating its 10th anniversary, took place from 28 to 31 May 2026 under the theme DESIGN REAL. The international event focused on practical and innovative solutions in product design, architecture and sustainability, providing an ideal platform for presenting the pioneering Czech project.

About StudentCar Titan
StudentCar Titan (SC Titan) is an experimental research and development project focused on creating a four-seat electric supercar designed and built in the Czech Republic. The vehicle’s exterior and interior design were developed as part of Rostislav Zapletal’s doctoral dissertation at Tomas Bata University in Zlín, while the prototype itself was constructed by researchers and students from VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
A significant number of the vehicle’s components were developed through student thesis projects, demonstrating the strong integration of education, research and innovation. SC Titan incorporates several advanced technological solutions, including an integrated downforce wing concealed within the rear bumper, which increases aerodynamic downforce without generating additional drag. The vehicle also features slim Matrix headlights developed in cooperation with PO Lighting Czech, Inc. Its construction combines carbon-fibre composites with 3D-printed components, and the prototype underwent testing at the Tatra proving ground.
What makes the project particularly distinctive is the fact that the bodywork, interior, powertrain and chassis were all developed entirely in-house. The Department of Materials and Technologies for Vehicles has been operating under the StudentCar project for more than 20 years and has previously developed five unique automotive prototypes. Titan represents the latest and most ambitious addition to this legacy.
The project was supported by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (Project No. CK01000047) and developed in cooperation with EVC Group, Inc. with the aim of improving the safety of low-volume electric vehicles.
