Student Strike in Support of Czech Television and Czech Radio
3. November 2026On Tuesday 3 November, TBU students will join a protest strike in support of the independence of public service media and the protection of democratic principles.
The strike is a response to current political developments and growing concerns about the future of Czech Television and Czech Radio. By coming together, we want to make it clear that freedom of speech, independent media and the democratic values of our country matter to us.

WHERE: Outside the TBU Rectorate building
The initiative is led by the Audiovisual Arts Studio and students of the Faculty of Multimedia Communications (FMC). It is supported by the TBU Student Union and the Student Chamber of the TBU Academic Senate. Students from other schools in Zlín are also joining the initiative.
Following the strike, a meeting organised by the Veřejnoprávně initiative will take place by the Václav Havel bench. Representatives of Czech Radio and Czech Television will meet members of the public to discuss the future of public service media and freedom of speech.
All students, university staff and members of the public are invited to take part in the strike and the related events.
