Successful Professorial Appointment Procedures

On Tuesday 19 September, two professorial appointment procedures were held at the meeting of the TBU Scientific Board, with both of them having a successful outcome.

Assoc. Prof. Ing. et Ing. Ivo Kuřitka, Ph.D. et Ph.D. is an academic and the Head of the research team “Nanomaterials and Advanced Technologies” in the Centre of Polymer Systems of Tomas Bata University in Zlín. At the same time, he is a teacher at the TBU Faculty of Technology. He focuses on modification and processing of polymers, on synthesis of nanomaterials, preparation of nanocomposites and on the characterization of their end-use properties. In this field, he has published more than 150 research articles in scientific journals with an impact factor. He was the principal investigator/co-investigator in about 30 projects of applied and basic research, he is the co-author of five patents and of many utility models and functional samples. His most important collaboration with business and industry comprises research projects in the field of modern plastics for the Moravian-Silesian Automotive Cluster. In the professorial appointment procedure held at the meeting of the TBU Scientific Board, he defended his summary of lectures entitled “Hierarchically Structured Nanocomposites: From a Detail to the Whole.” In the future, he wants to continue working on low-emission technologies and materials using carbon dioxide.

Assoc. Prof. Mgr. A. Pavel Noga, ArtD. is a graphic designer, a teacher and the Head of the Graphic Design Studio at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications of Tomas Bata University in Zlín. Previously, he was also employed at the University of Ostrava, Masaryk University and at the Brno University of Technology. Since 1992, he has been working as a self-employed person and focusing mainly on corporate and publication design. He works as a curator as well. His most important curatorial projects include the cycle of international exhibitions entitled Typoplakát (2012–16) and Typoplakátok (2022).

He wrote the following books on graphic design and typography – Design on the Road (2014), From Design to Design (2019), Typo Poster (2020). For several years, he wrote articles for specialist journals such as Typo, Designum and Typographia. He is actively involved in Czech-Polish cultural activities. Many of these activities are described in the publication “Near and Far” (2016), with Prof. Noga being the editor as well as the author of a large part of the publication. He had solo exhibitions in the Czech Republic and abroad. He participated in a number of major international exhibitions of graphic design, such as the Poster Biennial in Warsaw, Poster Biennial in Mexico and Posterfest in Budapest.
