TBU Is Giving a Helping Hand to Ukraine
28. February 2022Tomas Bata University in Zlín has got actively involved in the provision of aid to Ukraine. It has organized a humanitarian donations collection and will provide scholarships and accommodation to students from Ukraine. In addition, Ukrainian students, who study and live in Zlín, will help with interpreting. The first people from Ukraine are already arriving in Zlín and the surrounding regions, particularly women and children fleeing the war.
People may donate material aid to the collection on the first floor of the U13 building. Hygiene items, sanitizers, toothpastes and brushes, soaps, medicines, batteries, power banks, headlamps, sleeping bags, blankets, sleeping mats, baby diapers, baby food and bottles, thermal clothing, long-life food, as well as medical supplies (bandages, emergency tourniquets, patches,..) are accepted.
In Uherské Hradiště, the Faculty of Logistics and Crisis Management has joined the humanitarian collection organized by Caritas Uherské Hradiště.
Students from Ukraine who study at Tomas Bata University will also help with interpreting.
“We are prepared to provide a single payment extraordinary scholarship to our students from Ukraine. We are in close contact with them, and besides scholarships, we offer them psychological support through our psychological counselling centre. We are here to help them through this difficult time,” said Prof. Vladimír Sedlařík, Rector of TBU in Zlín. The management of the University is also planning to provide accommodation to war refugees in the TBU accommodation facilities, if need be.
The management of Tomas Bata University has condemned the invasion of a sovereign state. In support of Ukraine, the Ukrainian flag has been hoisted at TBU. Almost fifty students from Ukraine study at Tomas Bata University in Zlín at the moment.
