TBU user account

All TBU users are provided with a user account and a personal e-mail address. The user account is used to access the TBU data network, the university e-mail account, and most TBU information systems.

Creation and Validity of User Accounts

User accounts and personal e-mail addresses are automatically created and activated on the date a student is registered as actively enrolled in the IS/STAG system, or on the date an employee is registered as having an active employment contract or work agreement in the SAP system.

A TBU user account remains valid for the entire duration of a student’s studies or for the duration of an employment relationship. Upon completion of studies or termination of an employment contract or work agreement, the user account and access to all UTB information systems are automatically blocked. For employees, the personal e-mail address may remain active for an additional 60 days to ensure the continuity of TBU operations and the handover of work responsibilities.

Username format

Each user is assigned a username in the format username and a personal e-mail address in the format username@utb.cz. Both are protected by a single password. To access most systems (logging into computers in classrooms and study rooms, the IS/STAG and LMS Moodle systems, web portals, etc.), unless otherwise specified, use the username in the format username. To access email, MS Teams, and the Microsoft 365 portal, log in using your email address in the format username@utb.cz.

A change of username and e-mail address is possible upon request in cases where a TBU student transitions to a doctoral program, becomes a TBU employee in Zlín, or changes their last name.

eduroam Wi-Fi Network User Account

The username for the eduroam Wi-Fi network is in the format username@utb.cz, just like your email address. For security reasons, a different password is required to access the Wi-Fi network than the one you use to access your email and the UTB network. Before connecting to the Wi-Fi network for the first time, the user must set this password.

More information about eduroam Wi-Fi network is available on a separate webpage.

Multi-factor authentication (MFA)

In some cases, such as confirming a password change for a TBU user account, remote access via VPN, etc., multi-factor authentication may be required for enhanced security. Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a security method in which a password alone is not sufficient to log in to an account, but a second verification step is also required, usually a time-limited one-time password (OTP) generated in an authentication app. This significantly increases the security of the user’s account against unauthorized access, because an attacker would not only need to know the password but would also need access to the user’s mobile phone or authentication app.

More information about multi-factor authentication is available on a separate webpage.
