Freemovers

Traineeship

Within the Freemover programme, TBU students can participate in a traineeship held at any institution worldwide. Students must find a traineeship which corresponds to their present specialization and is in accordance with their career plans.

This programme is funded by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic (MEYS) within the TBU Institutional Plan.

Students can also use the services of the Job Centre offered by our University to find a traineeship, and that by logging in to the Job Centre portal or by following the Facebook public group UTB Zahraniční stáže, stipendia, příležitosti.

Requirements regarding participating students

  • In order to participate in a traineeship held abroad, a student has to be enrolled on an accredited full-time or part-time Bachelor’s, Master’s or doctoral programme at TBU and must have duly completed the first year of a Bachelor’s programme.
  • The student can have any citizenship but has to study in the Czech Republic in an accredited degree programme. Student cannot travel to the country of his/her permanent residence as a Freemover.

Requirements regarding traineeships held abroad

  • The duration of a traineeship is no less than 1 month and no more than 12 months.
  • Prior to or during the traineeship abroad, students are not allowed to suspend or terminate their studies at TBU.
  • During their studies at TBU, students are allowed to participate in a traineeship held abroad repeatedly within the Freemover programme.

Financial assistance provided during a traineeship abroad

  • The student receives a grant from TBU according Calculation  
  • The grant provided may not cover all expenses for the traineeship abroad and is considered to be a contribution only.
  • Tool for Grant Amount Calculation
  • Each outgoing student may apply for a co-funding grant from the Faculty within the Freemover programme. The application shall be discussed at the Faculty and the student may receive financial resources in addition to the above-mentioned grant.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MOBILITY TAKEN WITHIN THE FREEMOVER PROGRAMME (Traineeships)

Scanned copies of all the documents will be accepted except for the Financial Agreement.

1. Selection procedures                     

  • Students can submit an application in the 1st year of the Bachelor’s programme (if they intend to participate in mobility in the 2nd year of studies) or in the 3rd year of the Bachelor’s programme (if they intend to participate in mobility in the 1st year of the Master’s programme).
  • Selection procedures for traineeships abroad are organized on an annual basis by the relevant faculties of TBU in January/February (regular deadline), or September/October (additional deadline) of the relevant year – please see the websites of TBU faculties.

In order to find information on how to complete the documents please refer to the instructions specified in the information leaflet (print the document on both sides of a sheet of paper, to be folded at the bottom of the page, and fold it) and in the Rector’s Directive No. 10/2021 – International Mobility of TBU Students and Mobility of Incoming International Students at TBU.

2. Documents

Prior to departure for a traineeship:

  • AL – Acceptance Letter – Confirmation of the acceptance of the student by the institution abroad where the student will take part in the traineeship, to be issued by the receiving institution. The student shall ask the institution abroad to issue a AL which shall include: Name of student, dates on which the traineeship takes place, a brief description of activities to be carried out during the traineeship, signature of the authorized person from the sending institution, stamp of the receiving institution.
  • Insurance – The student is required to arrange insurance on his/her own and at his/her own expense; the student is obliged to arrange the following types of insurance prior to departure:
    • Accident insurance
    • Insurance of liability for damage
    • Medical expenses
  • Financial Agreement – concluded between the student and the International Officer in charge 3-4 weeks prior to the commencement of the traineeship. It specifies and confirms the amount of the grant to be awarded.

In order to conclude a Grant Agreement (3-4 weeks prior to the commencement of the mobility) please come to U13/327 during the office hours and bring the following printed documents with you:

  • A document or a copy of the document certifying the travel insurance concluded for the duration of the entire traineeship abroad.
  • A confirmation of study at TBU for the duration of the traineeship abroad.

During the traineeship abroad:

  • Confirmation of Arrival – Departure – Within 7 days of the arrival at the receiving institution, the student must send the confirmed start date of his/her traineeship to: outgoing@utb.cz.
  • In case of changes in the date of completion, in the person of the senior executive, in location of work or in the job description, please contact the TBU International Office immediately.

Upon return from the traineeship held abroad:

  • LAM – Learning Agreement After the Mobility – The student must complete this document after his/her traineeship has ended. The document serves as a Traineeship Certificate. It is necessary for the termination of the student’s traineeship.
  • Final Report on the Traineeship – The student is required to complete the Final Report on the Traineeship within 15 days of his/her return at www.xchange.utb.cz.
