Freemovers

Study

Within the Freemover scheme, TBU students can participate in a study period at any institution worldwide. Students can either take advantage of an existing TBU cooperation with a particular partner institution abroad (see Partner institutions) or choose a different foreign institution according to their preference.

This programme is funded by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic (MEYS) within the TBU Institutional Plan.

Requirements

Requirements for outgoing students

  • In order to participate in a study abroad programme, a student has to be enrolled on an accredited full-time or part-time Bachelor’s, follow-up Master’s or doctoral programme at TBU and must have completed the first year of his/her Bachelor’s study.
  • The student can have any citizenship but has to study in the Czech Republic in an accredited degree programme. Student cannot travel to the country of his/her permanent residence as a Freemover.

Requirements regarding study periods abroad

  • The duration of a study period is no less than 1 month and no more than 12 months.
  • Prior to or during the study period abroad, students are not allowed to suspend or terminate their studies at TBU.
  • During their studies at TBU, students are allowed to study abroad repeatedly within the Freemover programme.

Financial assistance provided during a study period abroad

  • The student shall receive financial assistance from TBU according  Calculation.
  • The financial assistance provided may not cover all expenses for the study period abroad and is considered to be a contribution only.
  • Tool for Grant Amount Calculation
  • Each outgoing student may apply for a co-funding grant from the Faculty within the Freemover programme. The application shall be discussed at the Faculty and the student may receive financial resources in addition to the abovementioned grant.

Selection procedure

  • Students can submit an application in the 1st year of the Bachelor’s programme (if they intend to participate in mobility in the 2nd year of studies) or in the 3rd year of the Bachelor’s programme (if they intend to participate in mobility in the 1st year of the Master’s programme).
  • Selection procedures for study periods abroad are organized on an annual basis by the relevant faculties of TBU in January/February (regular deadline), or September/October (additional deadline) of the relevant year (please see the websites of TBU faculties).
  • Application Form – Internal Selection Procedure Held at TBU (contact details regarding the faculty coordinators are specified in the footer of the document).

Students who succeed in the selection procedure shall follow the instructions specified in the information leaflet and the Rector’s Directive No. 10/2021 – International Mobility of TBU Students and Mobility.

 

Documents

Scanned copies of all the documents will be accepted.

Prior to departure

All the documents can be downloaded in the pdf format from the section “ECTS” in the TBU Portal.

  • SAF – Student Application Form – is used instead of the Acceptance Letter – a document by which the institution abroad confirms that the TBU student has been admitted to study there
  • LA – Learning Agreement – an agreement concluded between the student, the sending institution and the receiving institution abroad
  • Travel insurance for the duration of the study period abroad
  • Confirmation of study issued by TBU for the duration of the study period abroad
  • ToRBM – Transcript of Records Before the Mobility – list of grades obtained at TBU. In some cases, a ToRBM is required by the institution abroad prior to studying abroad.
  • Financial Agreement – concluded between the student and the International Officer in charge 3-4 weeks prior to the commencement of the study period. It specifies and confirms the amount of the grant to be awarded.

In order to conclude a Grant Agreement (3-4 weeks prior to the commencement of the mobility) please come to U13/327 during the office hours and bring the following printed documents with you:

  • Learning Agreement generated from the TBU Portal (signed and stamped by the institution abroad)
  • Student Application Form generated from the TBU Portal or an Acceptance Letter (signed and stamped by the institution abroad)
  • A document or a copy of the document certifying the travel insurance concluded for the duration of the entire study period abroad.
  • A confirmation of study at TBU for the duration of the study period abroad.

During the study period abroad

  • Confirmation of Arrival – Departure – confirmation of duration of the study period abroad at the institution abroad. The start date and the end date of the study period must correspond to the dates specified in the Financial Agreement. The student shall scan the document and send it to the TBU International Officer in charge within 7 days of the start date of the study period abroad.
  • It is possible that after your arrival at the institution abroad you find out that some of the course units that you have enrolled on are not available (therefore, you have to select different course units). You are allowed to make changes to the course units within 1 month of the start date of the study period. You shall cancel the course units that are not available in the TBU Portal and add course units that you will actually study. The changes shall be duplicated to the document CH-LA – Changes to the Original Learning Agreement in the Portal.

Upon return from the study period abroad

  • ToR – Transcript of Records – list of grades received at the institution abroad after the completion of the study period abroad. The document shall be issued by the institution abroad.
  • Confirmation of Arrival – Departure – confirmation of duration of the study period at the institution abroad.  The start date and the end date of the study period must correspond to the dates specified in the Financial Agreement. The student shall scan the document and send it to the TBU International Officer in charge within 7 days of the end date of the study period abroad.
  • SIToR – Sending Institution’s Transcript of Records / Proof of Recognition – the document is generated in the Portal after you enter the examination results into the Portal in accordance with your Transcript of Records issued by the institution abroad.
  • Student’s Final Report – after the end of the study period please complete the review at www.xchange.utb.cz

Documents for students at the University of Huddersfield

Prior to departure

  • Identical as in Paragraph 5
  • Financial Agreement Part 1 – concluded in person between the student and the TBU International Officer in charge 3-4 weeks prior to the commencement of the study period. It specifies and confirms the amount of the grant to be awarded.

During the study period abroad

  • Identical as in Paragraph 5
  • Interim Report of 300 – 400 words in the English language – to be written by the student.
  • Financial Agreement Part 2 – to be concluded by e-mail between the student and the TBU International Officer in charge in January.

Upon return from the study period abroad

  • Confirmation of Arrival – Departure – confirmation of duration of the study period abroad at the institution abroad
  • Confirmation on the completion of the agreed degree programme
  • ToR – Transcript of Records – list of grades received at the institution abroad after the completion of the study period abroad. The document shall be issued by the institution abroad.
  • Confirmation issued by the receiving institution on the completion of the Bachelor’s/Master’s thesis and a written assessment by the foreign instructor (in the electronic form; the name, surname, academic degree and the position of the instructor must be specified).
  • A copy of the degree certificate
  • SIToR – Sending Institution’s Transcript of Records / Proof of Recognition – the document is generated in the Portal after you enter the examination results into the Portal in accordance with your Transcript of Records issued by the institution abroad.
  • Student’s Final Report – after the end of the study period please complete the review at xchange.utb.cz
