Getting to the Portáš Lodge
As the Portáš Lodge is located right on the Czech–Slovak border, it can be accessed from either side.
From the Czech Republic: Drive to Nový Hrozenkov, where signs indicate the turn-off for Ski Centre Kohútka. Follow the signs up to the final car park on the ridge, where you must leave your car (approx. 300 m from the lodge). The final stretch of the road to the car park is only passable with snow chains in winter.
From Slovakia: Drive to Lysá pod Makytou, then follow the turn-off to Lazy pod Makytou, where signs point to Ski Centre Kohútka. Follow these up to the final car park on the ridge, where you must leave your car (approx. 300 m from the lodge). On this route, snow chains are not usually required, though it is advisable to carry them in case of changing weather conditions.
From the start of the 2023/2024 season, a parking fee applies at all Kohútka Ski Centre car parks for all visitors.
