In 2008 the new building of the University Centre, that houses the University Library and the University Rectorate, was opened. The author of the building is a world-renowned architect Eva Jiřičná, who was born in Zlín. Significant information resources – around 130,000 of books, two hundred titles of printed newspapers and magazines and one hundred scientific databases consisting of thousands of articles, prestigious scientific journals and e-books — are available in the modern Library (online Library catalogue), which is the largest specialized library in Zlín region. The five-storey building of the University Centre with a large atrium offers 558 study seats, where notebooks can be plugged in; 216 of these seats are equipped with computers.
